ThermiTight®: Non-Surgical Skin Tightening
We may feel 22 on the inside, but sometimes the picture in the mirror just doesn’t match our inner youthfulness. If you have sagging skin in certain areas, such as your neck, addressing this issue can give your confidence a huge boost, and with ThermiTight®, you don’t even need surgery.
What Areas Can ThermiTight® Treat?
While ThermiTight® won’t actually transform you into a 22-year-old again, it can reduce and smooth sagging skin significantly in several areas of the body. One of the most popular uses of ThermiTight® is to treat sagging skin in the neck area. However, it can be used on the breasts, arms, abdomen, knees and thighs.
What Is ThermiTight®?
Unlike surgery, ThermiTight® is minimally invasive and used radiofrequency energy to achieve results. This also is known as subdermal tissue heating. When we apply the ThermiTight® device to the target areas, such as your neck, radiofrequency heat energy helps to stimulate collagen growth.
Collagen is the protein that helps keep our skin firm and elastic. However, as we age, we produce less collagen, and this can cause our skin to sage. ThermiTight® helps boost collagen production and the result is smoother, tighter looking skin.
ThermiTight® is an excellent option for anyone who wishes to avoid a surgical procedure or anyone who might not be able to undergo surgery. It only takes about an hour (sometimes less) to complete a ThermiTight® procedure, and unlike surgery, there will be almost no scarring and little downtime.
The procedure begins by applying a local anesthetic under the skin, and the application of the anesthetic can be very mildly uncomfortable, but otherwise, there should be little to no pain during the procedure. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, we create a tiny incision and place the ThermiTight® probe just under the skin. Typically, patients feel a warm sensation as the treatment is applied, but no real discomfort. The incision should heal easily on its own and most patients say the scars are not perceptible after they heal.
We usually recommend that patients rest in the first 24 hours after the procedure, although many people return to work the following day. We recommend avoiding exercise or vigorous activity for two or three days after treatment as this helps speed up the healing process. Applying ice packs can help reduce any swelling during the first few hours after the procedure.
Most patients will experience some tenderness and soreness for a few days after the procedure, and redness also often is common. There also may be some drainage around the incision sites for the first few days after treatment, and this can be gently cleaned using warm water and a mild soap.
Pro ThermiTight® Tip: Stay Hydrated
One of the crucial components of ThermiTight® treatment is to stay super hydrated in the days leading up to treatment and in the week following treatment. We recommend that you drink about 80 ounces of water per day leading up to and following treatment.
In general, staying hydrated will help your skin look and feel its best. ThermiTight® results generally last two to five years, but with proper hydration and a healthy diet and lifestyle, you are more likely to enjoy results at the five-year level. For just about any cosmetic procedure, staying hydrated and living the healthiest possible lifestyle extends the results and your whole body will feel better in the bargain.
Can Anyone Get ThermiTight®?
In general, ThermiTight® can be a great option for all skin types and skin tones, however, we don’t recommend ThermiTight® for patients that are pregnant as well as those with a current skin infection around the area where ThermiTight® will be applied. During your initial consultation, we can assess whether ThermiTight® is the best option to fit your needs.
ThermiTight® is not a fat-reduction treatment nor will is it meant as a cellulite reduction treatment. However, we offer surgical services such as liposuction to help remove stubborn areas of fat. We also offer several cellulite reduction treatments, such as ThermiSmooth® Body and Cellfina®.
If you want to target fine lines and wrinkles on the face, we have procedures such as dermal fillers, sometimes called a “liquid facelift” that can help. ThermiSmooth® Face is another non-surgical treatment option for dermal remodeling. The best option is to schedule a consultation at our office and discuss what issues you would like addressed and we can create a plan that works for you.
