The Non-Surgical Facelift: Learn More About Jawline Filler
You might have noticed that the term “snatched jawline” has been trending, and if you long for a more defined jawline and a more youthful look, we can help. Best of all, with jawline filler and other minimally-invasive treatments, we essentially can provide you with a non-surgical facelift.
What Is Jawline Filler?
When you think about “fillers,” this likely conjures up an image of plump, full lips or perhaps plump cheeks and loss of volume in these areas is quite common as we age. While we can use dermal fillers to provide you with a plumper cheek area and more voluptuous lips, these fillers also help boost the structure in areas of your face where the skin may be losing its elasticity.
As we age, the hard truth is that our skin’s collagen and elastin production slows down and this leads to wrinkles, lines and sagging skin. With jawline filler, we can help tighten and firm up the jawline and chin and provide you with a more youthful look as well as a nicely defined jawline.
Our preferred jawline filler is Juvederm Volux, and this is an FDA-approved dermal filler. It is part of the Juvéderm family of hyaluronic acid-based fillers, designed specifically for enhancing and reshaping the lower face, such as chin and jawline contouring.
Juvéderm Volux is formulated with VYCROSS technology, which combines different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, resulting in a smoother gel that provides longer-lasting results compared to traditional hyaluronic acid fillers. It is injected into the deeper layers of the skin to provide structural support and restore volume, creating a more defined and sculpted appearance.
This filler is primarily used for contouring and augmenting the chin and jawline, making it ideal for individuals who want to improve facial harmony or enhance their facial features without undergoing surgery. The effects of Juvéderm Volux typically last up to 12-18 months, but individual results may vary depending on factors such as age, lifestyle and skin type.
The Liquid Facelift
If you have several areas of concern that you would like us to address, you might consider the option of a “liquid facelift” or non-surgical facelift. For this option, we would add a few extra treatments along with your jawline filler.
We can use Juvederm Voluma XC injectable for your cheeks and chin as part of a whole face transformation. Depending on your needs, we also can combine this with Morpheus8 to address trouble spots such as the undereye area and the jowls. We also can top this off with Botox or Baby Botox as a finishing touch to provide you with the smoothest skin possible.
Unlike Juvéderm and Botox, which are injectables, Morpheus8 is a skin rejuvenation treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to stimulate collagen production and remodel the underlying layers of the skin. Morpheus8 (also called Morpheus laser) is designed to improve skin texture, reduce wrinkles, tighten sagging skin, and diminish the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
The treatment works by using a specialized handheld device that contains an array of tiny, gold-plated microneedles. These needles penetrate the skin to a precise, adjustable depth, while simultaneously delivering radiofrequency energy to the deeper layers of the dermis. The combination of microneedling and RF energy promotes the skin’s natural healing response, leading to the production of new collagen and elastin fibers.
Morpheus8 treatments are suitable for all skin types and have minimal downtime. For optimal results, a series of treatments is usually recommended, spaced several weeks apart.
What To Expect
In general, most patients will experience some level of discomfort with these procedures, but, of course, the pain and recovery times are far less severe than with a traditional surgical facelift. Generally, you will experience mild discomfort at most, but we will apply numbing cream or gel to the area to reduce this discomfort as much as possible.
Typically, you can immediately return to your normal activities within a day of treatment with Juvéderm, Morpheus8 or Botox, although it can be a good idea to rest for 24 hours just to reduce any swelling and speed up healing in the treatment area. We also recommend not drinking alcohol the day before the procedure and for a few days after for faster healing.
Allergic reactions to these treatments are extremely rare and side effects tend to be mild and might include redness and swelling and possibly some soreness at the injection sites. These usually subside quickly, but it is important to note that it can take as long as two weeks to see the full results of all of these treatments and possibly up to a month to see the full results of Morpheus8. As Morpheus8 stimulates collagen production, you may also continue to see improvements for several months after treatment.
